2017 M7.2 DAVAO OCC. EARTHQUAKE

At 0423H on Friday, 29 April 2017, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake, of tectonic origin, was recorded with the epicenter at 05.02°N, 125.24°E – 053 km S 30° W of Sarangani (Davao Occidental).   The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), reported its  depth at 57 Kilometers. The quake’s reported intensities are:
  • Intensity VI – Surigao City and Pintuyan, Southern Leyte
  • Intensity V – Mandaue City, San Ricardo, Limasawa, and San Francisco, Southern Leyte
  • Intensity IV – Hinunangan, Southern Leyte, and Butuan City
  • Intensity III- Hibok-hibok, Camiguin, Tolosa and Tacloban, Leyte, Bislig City, Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental
  • Intensity II- Cagayan de Oro City, Talocogon City, Agusan del Sur, Dumaguete City, Cebu City
  • Intensity II- Bislig City
  • Intensity I- Cebu City and Cagayan de Oro City
